New features in SoftScans Email Security Service |
In January 2009 we are releasing new features to our email security service. The features are based on request from customers and prioritized by popularity, so a large proportion of our customers can benefit from the improvements. The release of the new features will be announced on SoftScan Manager (the web interface).
Improved IQs report
The IQS report is the mail users receive with a list of emails, which have been classified as spam, but could be legitimate mails. It is an important tool, and we are therefore pleased to present a number of enhancements, making the report even easier to use.
-
It is now possible to alter sender name, subject and body in the report. This will enable you to adjust the report to your own language style, giving your users exactly the message you want them to have.
-
Direct preview of quarantined emails, showing the first three lines of the email. With this feature, you can ensure that users do not accidentally release spam-mails, which potentially could lure them to click on links to web pages with malicious content.
-
Extra scanning of spam mails. With the new setup, all emails will be scanned one more time, before the daily IQS report is sent out. This means that the user will receive considerably fewer IQS reports. If an email e.g. has been scanned and put in quarantine at 8 p.m., and the IQS report is sent out at 7 a.m. the next morning, the extra scanning can eliminate the uncertainty about the mail being spam or not. The mail is then dealt with applicably before the IQS report is sent to the user.
-
Allow concurrent use of "client" and "administrator" IQS report. Previously, it has only been possible to choose whether the administrator or the users themselves should receive the reports. In the new version, the administrator is able to define which reports should be sent to the users, and which should be sent to the administrator. More administrators can be added, so e.g. larger organizations can distribute IQS reports between local IT departments, with responsibility for own employees.
Improved LDAP integration
With automatic LDAP integration, the existing groups in your organization can be used to create STMP rules. SoftScan Manager supports different LDAP services, including Microsoft Active Directory (MS Exchange) and Lotus Domino.
The SMTP rules can now be configured to perform different actions, depending on the group the user belongs to. Maybe the technical team is allowed to receive .exe files, while the sales team is not. If a user moves to another team, and therefore changes group e.g. in your Active Directory, the rules for the new team are automatically applied to the user. Groups can also be used to configure IQS reports. This provides the ability to tailor the reports, e.g. to send reports in the groups local language.
All changes on your LDAP server are automatically replicated to the SoftScan system.
Joined or split access to email and web security services
With SoftScan Manager, there is a joined entry to both the email and web security services, making it easy for you to administer both services. But if you need to, it is now possible to split the access, e.g. if an administrator is only allowed access to one of the services.
